Welcome to We Lead Oxleas

We Lead Oxleas is a leadership development programme designed for the senior leaders whose work shapes how care is experienced, how teams are led, and how Oxleas delivers on its ambition every day.

We Lead Oxleas is more than a programme. It is a statement of intent. It says that leadership at Oxleas is a shared endeavour, that the future of the Trust is not held by any one tier, role or profession, but is built together by leaders who choose to step forward, lead across difference, and shape the system around them.

This is your invitation to do exactly that.

Why this programme, why now?

The NHS is operating in a period of profound change. Growing complexity, financial pressure, rising demand, and shifting public expectations are reshaping leadership across the system, creating real opportunity for leaders ready to step forward. The leadership that brought Oxleas to where it is today has laid strong foundations; the leadership that carries the Trust forward will build on them in new ways.

What is needed now is leadership that is values-anchored and system-aware. Leadership that can hold the tension between today’s operational demands and tomorrow’s strategic opportunities. Leadership that draws strength from difference, builds trust across boundaries, and acts with integrity under pressure.

We Lead Oxleas has been designed to develop exactly that; in you, with your peers, and grounded in the real challenges facing the Trust.

RE-IMAGINE
what leadership means at Oxleas today, and clarify the role you will play in shaping the Trust’s future

STRENGTHEN
your self-awareness and authenticity as a leader, drawing on your identity and lived experience as sources of leadership intelligence

BUILD
the capability to lead across boundaries, spanning teams, professions, services, and partner organisations, where the most important outcomes are achieved

DEEPEN
your understanding of the Oxleas system, including the formal and informal rules that shape how work gets done, and develop the political intelligence to influence it

LEAD
change with confidence and integrity, navigating resistance, bias, and inertia while staying anchored in the Oxleas values of being kind, fair, listening, and caring

COMMIT
to a real, system-level leadership challenge that goes beyond your formal role and aligns with the priorities that matter most to the Trust

Our Borderless Leadership Approach

We Lead Oxleas is built on the Borderless Practice methodology, which develops leaders for the complexity, difference and interconnectedness of modern organisations. At its heart, the programme develops four leadership capacities. Not abstract qualities, but behavioural shifts that show up in how you lead.

  • Beyond Borders Thinking — strategic foresight, disruption intelligence and complexity navigation. Seeing change coming, rather than just responding to it.
  • Use of Self as an Instrument of Change — identity and difference as leadership strengths, awareness of power dynamics, personal impact and presence. Leading from the inside out.
  • Cross-Boundary Leadership — trust across difference, cultural agility and inclusive leadership practice. Driving performance with and through people genuinely different from you.
  • Lift & Shift the System — systems thinking, political intelligence and coalition-building. Understanding your organisational context and developing the confidence and skill to begin shifting it.

These four capacities are woven through every module of the programme.

This platform is your home for the programme. You will find module overviews, pre-work activities, and additional materials to read, watch or apply, all designed to support your learning between sessions. We recommend completing each module’s pre-work in good time, so you arrive ready to make the most of your time together as a cohort.

The Shape of Your Journey

We Lead Oxleas is delivered over five modules, framed by a Kick-off and supported throughout by coaching, diagnostics, and live application in your day-to-day leadership.
